This system is used in place of our standard termination stud system when there is less than 4½" of open space on the outside of the last vertical post.Our CSTS System is very easy to setup and install. Simply drill holes in your verticals for the cable to pass through. Nuts and cap nuts pull against the last vertical to tension. This system is very good for retrofitting existing rails to meet current codes. The CSTS on the turnbuckle is available in different lengths to pass through various post sizes. Use with washer, and cap (acorn) nut. (316 grade stainless steel for superior corrosion resistance).
Usage
CSTS can be a very clean and cost effective method of installing and tensioning cable assemblies because they can be used with any type or style of post. Cables in this system are fabricated to allow the fittings to pass through from the inside to the outside of the end posts. You then secure the cables by threading a stainless hex nut onto the stud. You tighten the hex nut against the outside of your end post. Take up & tension is achieved with the turnbuckle. Our standard CSTS can be used for up to a 2" O.D. post on a level or angle run. Rods are available for 4", 6", 8" and 12" post. Add a -4, -6, -8 or -12 to any part number to specify width of post if wider than 2".

Adjust-A-Ball system (without counter bore)
Adjust-a-Balls are used with either our CSTS or threaded studs for stair angle compensation. These half round balls allow for the cable to swivel to the proper stair angle automatically. Simply drill the proper hole and the ball will adjust to the proper position as the cable is tensioned.
Adjust-a-balls will fit up to 1/4” cable. Holes in the outside of the end posts must be drilled to 11/16”. If using a flat bar as your end post, you counter sink the hole to a 11/16" diameter.
