| Q: |
Are the posts available in various colors? |
| A: |
Yes, click on this link to see some of the standard colors. Since we are a custom company this is only a small sample of what is possible. We also offer a powder coat over hot dipped galvanize for coastal areas at an additional charge. Click here to see colors. |
| Q: |
Can I use a wider spacing between the posts? |
| A: |
Vertical cable spacing, post to post spacing, post rigidity and cable tension all work together in a system to prevent a 4 inch ball from passing through the cables(a requirement of most building codes). Therefore, maximum post spacing should be 42 inches or less. This diagram should help explain. |

To help understand this better, lets exaggerate the post spacings, you can see how a wider post spacing would make it to easy to flex the cables. |

| Q: |
What type of wood do you recommend tour the top rail? |
| A: |
We like IPE (EE-PAY) or Brazilain walnut, for outdoor applications. Its very resistant to rot, insects, UV exposure, ice, salt, abrasion, splintering, chemicals and has a Class A fire rated. The superior strength, stability, and durability make it particularly useful for a top rail or decking. IPE is rated by the US Forest Products Lab for 25 years plus. Various shapes and sizes are avaialable from Bristol Valley Hardwoods, they ship nationwide |
